The Story
Hi! I'm Coach Neil, the designer of Soccer Squares, and I am on a mission to help our children make great decisions on the pitch to become better football players.
As a parent of three kids, I spent many hours at pitch-side watching grassroots training sessions and matches before taking the plunge and becoming an FA Qualified coach myself. While coaching youth teams I learnt that decision making on the pitch is as important for player development as technical skills, especially as kids get older and the pitch gets bigger!
Playing matches helps provide the experience kids need to improve their decision making but it is a slow and sometimes painful process so I invented Soccer Squares - a fun, family board game to train the football brain.
Soccer Squares is designed to simulate the decisions that young players make on the pitch and speed up their tactical development. While playing the game your young superstar controls every player on the team so they must make more decisions than they would on a match day. They learn when and where to Run, when to Pass, when to Shoot and when to Tackle.
Decision making, positional sense and spatial awareness are all major features of the game so mastering Soccer Squares will help any young player boss the pitch. The game also provides soccer mums and dads with a chance to show off your own tactical knowledge but, be warned, just like in real life, you still need a bit of luck!

A break from screens!
It's hard getting our kids off their screens but a game of "First Goal Wins" is a great alternative to FIFA and can persuade them to put the controller down for a while!
Playing together also allows parent and child to discuss tactics and strategy in a more relaxed environment than the weekend post-game debrief 😀
